Collegium’s New Book Now Available for Pre-Order!

Beneath the Roar and the Tumult: Promoting Radical Hospitality and Belonging in College Classrooms is now available for pre-order from Liturgical Press.

Conceived as a companion volume to Becoming Beholders, Alum/mentor/retreat leader Rachel Wheeler served as lead editor, with Collegium Director Karen Eifler as co-editor. This collection was urged into being by colloquy participants noting a dearth of resources for working on cultivating the skills needed to address the brokenness of our world, for honing the prophetic imagination, which co-exists with the sacramental imagination. Twenty teacher-scholars from as many disciplines offer practical essays on specific, portable strategies they use to help learners recognize, analyze and respond meaningfully to systemic injustices, disparities and pain. Like Becoming Beholders, this volume lends itself well to reading/discussion groups.

Advance comments have been encouraging: “It reads like a conversation among colleagues, wrestling with how to translate the prophetic into the teachable,” and “…offers thoughtful ways to help students see and face suffering and injustice, find their voices, and be active agents of hope in the world.”
